Engagement at the Arboretum
If you know me, you know I LOVE love. I am a cheesy, starry-eyed, 80's lovesongs-loving girl. I am lucky enough to get to be a part of so many people's love stories, whether they are dating, engaged, getting married, starting a family, or celebrating an anniversary.
Getting to share in these moments is a treasure in itself. While the photos speak volumes, they sometimes don't do justice to the feeling of getting to watch someone get engaged before your eyes - though I try!
I received a message a little while ago asking if I would be willing to photograph a surprise proposal for an amazing girl. OF COURSE! (Heads up: I'm ALWAYS up for that).
We chatted about his vision for the big surprise; location, date, time, even outfits. Earlier this week, we met at the Arboretum and spent an hour walking around to various locations, trying to get an idea of where he felt would be the best place to get down on one knee. Stuck between two locations, he sent me a message later on saying it was the bridge. That is where he could see himself propose!
Roll around to Sunday, I picked up some flowers, got myself settled behind a tree, and waited. We pushed up the proposal by an hour because of threatening clouds, but the rain held off and the light was perfect!
The pair walked down the path and I could see the nervousness as they approached the bridge. Side-note: They didn't realize they had dressed in colour coordinating outfits until later in the day!
After a few moments of chatting and hugging and looking at the beautiful scenery, the big moment arrived, and he got down on one knee. Shock, giggles, and hugs followed!
I approached the pair after giving them a few moments together, and we took photos - including some awesome celebratory cake eating pictures! (I'm chocolate mousse cake's biggest fan).
This pair are so beautiful and are such a perfect match! Congratulations on the start of an exciting lifetime together!
Also, this ring... swoon worthy!
